Additional Props: Boundary Cones

Take your boundary cones and make a 15’ x 15’ square (a small area is preferred as this is not supposed to be a tag game that favors the fastest player) playing area for a group of about ten players. Assemble all your players inside the playing area and give them a bandana. Have them stick it in their back pocket (think flag football) or if they don’t have a back pocket, they can tuck part of the bandana in the elastic band of their pants and leave the other part hanging out. They cannot tie their bandana on a belt loop! At the word “go” from the Group Leader the object for players is to “tag” the other players by pulling the other players’ bandanas out of their pocket. Once that happens, the player that has pulled the other player’s bandana throws it to the ground. The player that has just been “tagged” must then stand on the bandana. Once players have been tagged and are standing on their bandana, they can remain in the action by trying to pull out other player’s bandanas while they are standing there. The last player with a bandana in her pocket is the winner. Players cannot “guard” their bandana with their hands or arms; they can only spin around to avoid having it pulled. spinning around (conscious that everyone around you is trying to get you) is the reason the game is called “Paranoia”.

Variation: After we have played the game for a while, we add in this variation. Tagged players (those standing on their bandana) can get back in the game if they can pull another player’s bandana. They would then switch places with that player by taking that bandana (the one they just grabbed) and putting it in their pocket. The tagged player then stands on the first player’s bandana. This variation allows more action, more paranoia, and more fun!
